My bedroom colors are gray, white and all shades of pink. I've never had a pink room before. Now is the time -- before I have to make it gender-neutral one day.
Here's how I turned this in to this.
Step one: Measure the height of your room.
Divide by how thick you want your stripes to be. My stripes are 8" thick.
Step two: Break out the painter's tape.
In pencil, mark the edges and center of the walls. Press the tape down at one end and pull all the way to the other end (lightly tapping in the center of the wall at your mark).
I ran out of green tape and had to switch to blue.
Step three: Level and eye it.
Level each piece of tape and press firmly as you go. You could use a credit card or towel to help you create a tight seal. I always stand back to look at it before I move forward. Sometimes I trust my eye more than the level.
Step four: Paint!
I painted over the tape first to help create an even tighter seal. It took two coats of white paint for me. I let it dry for two hours, then pulled the tape off for the reveal!
The total project took me four hours and $20 ($15 for a quart of white paint and $5 for painter's tape).
On to the next project: pink curtains!
