End tables
God has blessed me with some very sweet people. The night before I moved into my house, a new friend's parents gave me a lot of necessary furniture. That friend is now my boyfriend & I love spending time with his parents and family. Two of the many pieces they donated were end tables. I gave them a little makeover to make them my style.
Step one: Sand off the old finish. I did this indoors while watching a movie, because it was late and cold outside. I got dust everywhere! I highly recommend taking this step outdoors.
Step two: Paint with a brush or spray it on. I used a brush. It looks fine, but I think I'll spray paint next time.
Step three: Swap the drawer pull for a new one.

There's another one on the other side of the couch.

Pink curtains
My dream room is coming true! I saw this photo on This is Glamorous and I had to have it!
I slowly started chipping away at completely redoing my bedroom. My old colors were tans and blues. I started by painting my room two shades of gray (Rocky Slope and Tibetan Mist by Valspar). Then I added horizontal stripes behind my headboard. I went to a massive fabric warehouse in Addison and found 12 yards of just the right pink dupioni silk. My mom cut four panels and sewed four-inch openings at the top and six-inch hems at the bottom.
This afternoon I used a power drill (big step for me and I even broke a nail!) and hung the curtains. Here's the finished product! I'm so proud of it!
I just have to replace blinds in the window next to my bed, buy Winston a doggie bed and fill that white frame with a photo of me and Drew. :)
